Dec. 25th

A very Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year to you all!

Regular updates will resume very soon. Until then, here's a quick update. Not much of a
present, but better than that terrible pair of socks you'll be getting from your aunt later today. :  )

  • Curespotting:

  • "I went to Broadway to see the newest play by the great Tom Stoppard, "Rock & Roll", which intertwines themes of musical & political freedom,
punctuated by lots of song excerpts, and, where originally written to include Guns N Roses' "Don't Cry", the production had the taste to substitute "Boys Don't Cry" instead - right after this climactic scene where the two main guy characters come to an understanding of their lack of connection over many years.  Well used, and the show also projected full credits of each song as it played throughout the show, so no one could miss who and what it was.  Very well done and I recommend it for anyone in New York."

    (Thanks Justin)

"here in France the CBS series 'Cold Case', in which the music guys really please themselves by choosing great songs for the soundtrack  music, is shown on tv channel France 2.  The other day they played  (maybe replayed) the season 2 episode 6 the other day during which  'lullaby' was used.  I checked on the internet and easily found a  good site which lists everytrack used for each episode; in the season  five, episode 10 'justice' they use the song 'secrets', Season four  episode 19 'a forest', season 2 episode 5 'pictures of you' and 'just  like heaven', season 1 episode 9 'lovesong'. "

"This might have been reported before but, "Lovecats" is featured on the soundtrack to one of the most stupid movies ever, being D.E.B.S. (2004)... Why do Cure songs rarely to never get used in good movies?"

    (Thanks Laurent)

"Kind of a strange "I heard the Cure on..."  from a couple weeks ago now, Pictures of You soundtracking a Golf tournament on American TV during
what was apparently the "LG Skins Tournament 2007", Nov 27-28th. It was a pretty long loop, too, mostly the intro. Have the Cure officially taken over, and are we all doomed? My question was answered immediately afterwards as POY was followed by U2's In God's Country - desert theme,
Indian Wells, Joshua Tree-esque location, inevitable really. But still, is the Cure soundtracking golf tournaments even weirder than Cure in chain restaurant bathrooms or over supermarket PAs? Not sure."

    (Thanks David)

"This actually happened last wednesday, but I forgot to tell you earlier. After the Champions League soccer game Inter-Cska, the speakers of the Milan stadium started playing music, and the first song to be played was the Cure cover of Purple Haze. Quite an unusual Cure song to hear!"

    (Thanks Pietro)

"Was just watching Doctors (the worst soap ever) on BBC 1 here in sunny Britain and they played last 30 secs of Boys Don't Cry original version."

    (Thanks Honey Honey)

"on local french tv channel TVGrenoble small program Muzikagre, the relatively well known dj Hacker was asked "which song do you listen to in your car; dance to; remind you of your youth;; and so on...  and also:  which song do you listen to alone, he replied "The Cure's  Seventeen Seconds album"

    (Thanks Fabien G)
