  • Cure Ticket Alerts return:
  • For those who have asked, yes, I'll be doing the ticket alert system for the "added shows" on the North American 4Tour. So if you are interested in getting ticket info, password info, etc. for any of the shows listed below, just e-mail me and let me know which show(s) you want info for.

May 19th - Kansas City, Mo.

May 28th - San Jose, Ca.
    June 4th - Phoenix, Az.
    June 8th - Austin, Tx.
    June 13th - Sunrise, Fl.
    June 18th - Cleveland, Oh.

For those of you who are new or for those who have forgotten, the ticket alert system is a private e-mail list that I set up for each city. When I get any info about tickets, I send out an e-mail to everyone on that list. That way you don't have to keep checking websites every hour.

  • If you're wondering why it has taken a week to get COF updated, here's what I posted (on the photo gallery) on sunday:

  • "I've been ready to update since wednesday. Compuserve is having major problems with their servers. All Cserve hosted websites vanished last weekend, and when they got them restored, no one could update their websites. They've been promising to fix it within 48 hours, but that started on wednesday, and here we are on sunday with the same problem.

Until they fix it, I can't update anything. Very sorry.
I'm doing updates like normal, so once everything gets worked out, COF will have all the updates and tour info posted. "

So they finally fixed everything and it looks like we are back to normal. But while it was down, I set up a COF blog and really like it. So I'm not sure what I want to do now. I think I'll use the blog site for news updates and use COF for everything else. We'll see, I'll give it a few days and see what happens. My apologies again for the confusion and delays.

  • 11 Cure cd's to be released on SHM-CD in Japan:

  • "I received a email from theidealcopy with information about 11 new Japanese Mini-LP Sleeve CD's that are coming out.

They are all coming out on the SHM-CD format. I looked this up and found
    ( http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/music/essentials/shm-cd.html)  :

The high quality SHM-CD (Super High Material CD) format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing, SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.

I'm not sure how much improvement in sound you can really get from this format.  CD is digital, it either works or it doesn't.

It appears that most of the albums have the standard track listing or are double CD's with bonus tracks that are available on the bonus discs of the Rhino remasters, or in the Join the Dots box set.

The limiting factor on this is the price, the SHM-CD's appear to run from $38.99 to $57.99 each !!!

An interesting collectible, but very pricey."

    Here's the info from CDJapan:

  • The show in Berlin has been moved to a bigger venue:

  • "some info about the berlin show (feb 16th): as stated on the official site, the sold out event has been moved from the 'arena treptow' (capacity: 7.000) to the 'velodrom' (capacity: 12.000). although the veldrom has a higher total capacity, there will be less standing places (ca. 5.000). here is a link to the website: www.velodrom.de"

    (Thanks Thom, Hubert)

  • More tickets for Stockholm and a pre-show meet up:

  • "They released some more tickets for the Stockholm concert Feb 9th and  there are still a few available at www.ticnet.se.

Also,  it seems like we will have a Cure drink/pre-show beer at Medusa (www.medusabar.com) from 16.30.

  • "There is an alternative Cover Tribute Project  to the Cure called

     “CuRePrOjEcT”

    (Thanks Damiano)

  • Cure covers and mashups:

  • "Charlotte Martin released a covers album which includes The Cure's _Just Like Heaven_ and Interpol's _Obstacle 1_. The Cure cover sounds the same as the version that has been around for years but the Interpol cover is something new.

Details can be found here: http://www.charlottemartin.com
    and here: http://www.myspace.com/charlottemartin "

    (Thanks Mia)

"Canadian artist Luke Doucet (he used to play in Sarah McLachlan's band, and has another band Veal that is really good btw) has done a nice cover
    of this, listen here http://www.myspace.com/lukedoucet.
Instrumentation and arrangement are faithful with some nice departures here and there including a sweet guitar solo."

    (Thanks Greg)

    "See this link: http://www.side-line.com/news_comments.php?id=27356_0_2_0_C

The previously announced And One "Bodypop 1 1/2" MCD (expected for December) will not be released, in fact the release has been cancelled. Instead an extended full length tribute album will be released in February 2008. Expect 12 tracks on this release including cover of the following classics: Depeche Mode ("Never Let Me Down Again"), Front 242 ("Operating Tracks"), D.A.F ("Der Mussolini"), Nitzer Ebb ("I Give to You"), The Cure ("Kyoto Song") and so on."

    (Thanks Bernard)

"I just came back from Barcelona. Searching for a gift for my wife in a shop I heard an unknown version of "Boys don't cry". As I asked what CD they were playing she showed it to me.

It is called "Natura Music Collection", published by Natura (http://www.comunidadnatura.com) and compiled by Javier Verdes (http://www.verdesrecords.com). "Boys don't cry", the first song on the CD, is performed by Jaimie Benson and is a slow quiet guitar version."

    (Thanks Figurehead)

"A Danish Band, Blue Foundation, who I've always thought must be heavily influenced by The Cure, finally have their albums available on Itunes. I
found that they also have a live version of Love Song on Itunes, quite a good cover, but their own music is great, I imagine other Cure fans out
    there, would like their music."

    (Thanks Christoffer)

"I just made a cure cover, I wonder if you could talk about it on COF ? it could be interesting for fans I think... it is a cover of lullaby and secrets ....

    (Thanks Diegbass)

"There's a guy called Bobby Martini who likes to mix two or more songs into one and calls it a mash up. The Cure have also become 'victim' of
such a mash several times. You can download the mixes free at http://www.bobbymartini.co.uk
Besides, ther's nice artwork and some other 80's bands being part of a mash such as Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Human League and Peter Gabriel."

"Ok, so I was watching the History Channel, and there is some show about the '60s coming out.. I think it's called 1968 or something.  Anyway,
for the add they use different music each time I see the add, and the last time I saw it they used the Cure's cover of "Hello, I Love You" and they noted it at the bottom of the screen too!"

    (Thanks Spencer)

"little curespotting from France. After Greatest Hits promoted in a commercial last week, this week French tv channel M6 had a promo commercial as they are sponsor for the cure forthcoming two performances in Paris and Marseille. It was composed of a mix of images from videos like boys don't cry and in between days and some live performances from Festival 2005.  Will it be a strong Cure year?"

    (Thanks Fabien G)

"On the Today show this morning, instrumental FIIL was played at the beginning of one of their segments."

I feel I owe all of you an apology for the total lack of updates over the last couple of months. I'm going to enjoy Mardi Gras for the next week and a half, then I'll make a final decision on what will happen to this website. So before the European Tour starts, I'll either get this thing going again or let you know I'm shutting it down for good.

Update: Well, I wasn't expecting that! Doesn't matter what I want, if there are still THAT many of you who still enjoy reading this site, I'll keep it going. So I'll be back sometime around Feb. 6th or 7th to gear up for European Tour coverage (and sooner if there's anything really important to post). Thanks so much for your unbelievably kind words and support. Happy Mardi Gras!
